 They say that a

They say that a girl who walks the edges of this world,

will find herself, if she looks for long enough.

I am the the girl who is always searching.

I am the edges.

I am the sound of waves and the burning of candles,

I am the passion,

   the lingering kisses,

   the pursuit of knowledge.

I am the words I find refuge in and the pages to which I pour out my soul,

I am the poems I chase and the books held close to my heart,

I am the quotes that stick and the songs that bring me to tears,

I am the movies that touch me and all the stories that move me.

I am pieces of everyone I've ever met.

I am a combination of all my experiences,

Climbing the stairs to the gods,

       Chanting among thousands,

       Hiking sacred mountains,

       Talking to dolphins,

       My eyes towards the horizon.

I am the sensations in my fingertips,

       the wind on my cheeks,

       the sand in my toes,

      the sobs in my chest,

I am the exhaustion at the end of the fourth quarter.

I am the joy found on people's faces after victory,

I am the broken hearts after a loss.

I am a fish out of water, lost in this world.

I am the beauty,

       Flowers in the spring,

       Kisses in the rain,

       Sunshine in the breeze,

       Hugs in the airport.

I am the way my body moves,

      the curls in my hair,

      the fire in my heart.

I am the ache for understanding,

I am the moments you remember and the feelings you forget.

I am a mermaid, no fear of depth and a great fear of shallow living.

I am everything I love,

     All the people,

     All the memories,

     All the little things,

I am love.
